  1. I recommend rbenv (https://github.com/sstephenson/rbenv) instead of RVM. It’s much lighter weight (5mb to rvm’s 40mb), and if all you’re doing with RVM is installing and switching between Ruby versions, it’s just as simple. Plus there are numerous plugins available if you need that extra functionality without all the extra overhead.

    • Perfect, thanks! I used RVM here because it was suggested in the book and it is what we use at my work but your comment is great and I suggest others take this advice too.

      • Cool man, hope you’re enjoying Rails! Good article on getting up and running. I’ve been meaning to write something on my initial Rails setup, if only for myself to remember and keep track.
